Wells Fargo (NYSE: WFC) Donates to Bay Area Food Banks

As the holiday season quickly launches into full swing, firms sometimes take notice of those less fortunate, and Wells Fargo (NYSE: WFC) has decided to do something about it. The Bay area megabank has donated more than $250,000 to food banks in the area, ensuring more people will have food on their Thanksgiving tables.

The money will be shared among 29 food banks, including Alameda County Community Food Bank, Meals on Wheels of Contra Costa, St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Mateo, Meals of Marin and Glide Memorial in San Francisco.  The bank said it was trying to fill a gap between the demand for food banks’ services this holiday season and their supply of food. Michael Billeci, Wells Fargo’s Bay Area regional president commented, “We’ve heard many food banks in our communities are struggling to meet the increase in demand with fewer donations.”

With $1.2 trillion in assets, Wells Fargo operates more than 9,000 branches nationwide. One in three American households have a banking relationship with San Francisco-based Wells Fargo.
