JPMorgan Chase has appointed David Horan as regional executive for its middle market commercial banking operation in Albany and Syracuse.Horan succeeds William Dehmer, who has headed the New York City-based bank’s regional operations for 14 years. Dehmer was promoted to market manager for Connecticut, Westchester and the Bronx. That position had been held by Nicole Holzaphel, who has moved to the New York City market.
Middle market commercial banking is an important element to the JPMorgan Chase empire – with plans to increased lending in 2011, this role occupies an important spot in the firm’s forthcoming strategy. JP Morgan, which is based in New York City, has no branches in the Albany market but does middle-market commercial lending from an office in the Corporate Woods Office Park. It does have 13 branches in the Syracuse market, but those will not be part of Horan’s responsibilities.
Dehmer, who grew up in the area and graduated from Siena in Loudonville, has been with JP Morgan and its predecessor banks since 1989. In 1996, he was named regional president for the former Chemical Bank, which then merged with Chase Manhattan and adopted the Chase name. Horan has been with Chase for more than 23 years, and most recently was senior commercial banker in Albany.
