Ford (NYSE: F) to Provide Free Maintenance to New Lincoln Owners

Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) said that it will provide free maintenance to customers that purchase or lease a new Lincoln vehicle this summer. The news of the new offer comes on the heels of an announcement that Ford will expand the brand’s line-up as it winds down its Mercury brand.

The new offer, which covers both 2010 and 2011 Lincolns purchased in the United States, is part of Ford’s ongoing efforts to enhance the appeal of its luxury brand which has struggled to take market share from competitors such as BMW and Cadillac.

The Detroit automaker said that the program is immediately effective and runs through September 7th. Buyers will receive free oil changes, tire rotations, vehicle inspections, engine belts and hoses, for three years or 45,000 miles. Buyers will also get free wear items including brake pads and wiper blades, which are typically not covered in a vehicle warranty.

Earlier in the month, Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) said that it would expand its Lincoln brand with seven new or significantly updated models within the next four years.

Through the end of May, Ford has sold 37,444 Lincoln vehicles or about 12% more compared to the same period in 2009. The company said that Lincoln has made marginal gains during the fast five years, growing from  4.5%  to 6.3% of the car market between 2005 and 2010.
