Billionaire hedge fund manager John Paulson added to his Bank of America (NYSE: BAC) stake in the first quarter, according to a regulatory filing. His fund, Paulson & Co, added about 16.7 million shares for a total stake of 167.8 million shares.
The addition marks about a 10 percent increase in the funds stake of the bank. The information was reported after the hedge fund filed its 13F, a regulatory disclosure document.
Paulson’s fund also added shares of several gold miners, such as Kinross Gold Corp (NYSE: KGC), where 1.64 million shares were added, and AngloGold Ashanti (NYSE: AU), adding 900,000 shares.
The firm also liquidated several positions, of which, two were banking names. Fifth Third Bancorp (NSDQ: FITB), and New York Community Bancorp (NYSE: NYB).
