Wells Fargo (NYSE: WFC) Names James S. Kimball as New Senior Vice President

Wells Fargo (NYSE: WFC) recently named James S. Kimball as its new regional senior vice president of its North Coast Regional Commerce Banking Office. Mr. Kimball succeeds Michael Sullivan, who will be joining the company’s Global Financial Institutions group.

Kimball most recently served as a regional sales manager for Wells Fargo. In his new role, Kimball will now oversee a team of 17 commercial banking managers that stretches from San Francisco to the California-Oregon border. Kimball has lived in Sonoma County, CA his entire life.

Wells Fargo recently announced that they were closing a number of Wachovia and Wells Fargo branches in California as part of an effort to merge Wells Fargo’s Wachovia and Wells Fargo brands in the state. As part of its restructuring efforts, Wells Fargo will likely be moving around a number of executives, including Kimball.

The branch closures are generally perceived to be eliminating branches that are within a few blocks of one another. One analyst commented that when a Wells Fargo branch is on a street and a Wachovia branch is a block or two away, it doesn’t make sense to have both.
